EATHORNE ANDREW - PHOTOGRAPHER

INTERVIEW WITH ANDREW

ALEX:           How and when did you first become interested in photography?

ANDREW:   I worked in a Photography/ Audio retail store for a while and was introduced to 35mm film photography there. What took my eye were the filters you could do all sorts of arty things with which interested me a lot as I have always had an arty streak in me.

I was hooked from then and when computers were born I was interested in the manipulation of an image much like the previous filters used to do. So it was an extension of my art work and that was the way I chose to go.

ALEX:           Is there any artist/photographer who inspired your art?

ANDREW:   Troy Paiva was an influence in the way he created light paintings in Photography. Not happy just to take an image but to manipulate it in camera was really exciting using different ways to produce this kind of photographic art.

ALEX:           How would you describe your general style?

ANDREW:   I like to photograph the model in a wide view taking in all the backgrounds or buildings to make it a complete picture of where they are standing. So a lot of my work looks like this and people recognize my work from that.

ALEX:           What is it about nude photography that interest you the most?

ANDREW:   To be honest I rarely work in that genre and have built up a following from not doing it which i believe is harder to do. Someone once said to me that they were impressed I had made an impression without doing nude photography.

ALEX:           What future plans do you have?

ANDREW:   I have recently started to manage a photography studio for a friend. I have been able to use all the people and the knowledge I have gained from working in the fashion and modelling world to get this up and running. Making friends and going to networking meetings is so important for this purpose and helps make a friendly and professional approach to the studio. I hope to make this my full-time employment.
