Interview with Jeff Mood - Photographer for

" Letter From Mr. Smith -Part II cover"  page

Model : Maria Katsari

Alex:      How and when did you first become interested in photography?

Jeff:       I first got into photography when I was a teenager. My first camera was a Russian Zenith EM. This was a totally manual film camera, and it’s where I ‘cut my teeth’ in photography. I started off shooting landscapes and abstract because it was easy for a shy teenager to shoot this style rather than shoot people (who I’d need to interact with). Since then I’ve had several film cameras (Nikons), and now I shoot solely digital, and still Nikons. As I got older, and more confident, I started to shoot people pictures, and this has never changed since. I love the way you can communicate with your subject when shooting people, and it’s also brought me a whole new collection of friends.

Alex:      Is there any artist/photographer who inspired your art?

Jeff:       I love the work of Miss Aniela. I have followed her since her early days in 2009, and have been very fortunate to have been on one of her workshops. She is now a hugely successful artist around the world, and I have seen her work develop amazingly well.

Alex:       How would you describe your general style?

Jeff:        I’d probably describe it as ‘eclectic portraiture’. I say this because I shoot a wide variety of style, including portraits to fashion, and glamour to art nude. Throw in some family shoots and weddings, and you can see how I see my style as eclectic.

Alex:     What is it about nude photography that interest you the most?

Jeff:      I love art nude for the simple fact that it all about light and shape. With art nude there are no clothes to hide behind, and it shows off the human form in its most natural state. The human body is an amazing thing and we should embrace it in all it’s glory.

Alex:     What future plans do you have?

Jeff:      To continue doing what I love, and hopefully making my subjects happy.
