INTERVIEW WITH STEFANO

ALEX:         How and when did you first become interested in photography?

STEFANO:  I STARTED WHEN I WAS JUST A CHILD. MY FATHER HAD A COUPLE OF POLAROID. SO I REMEMBER THAT

I USE TO GO OUTDOOR IN OUR GARDEN, TO TAKE PICTURE OF FLOWERS AND PLANTS.

I STILL MISS THAT POLAROID. I'VE ALWAYS BEEN ANXIOUS TO SEE THE RESULT AND AT THE

TIME THE POLAROID WAS THE ONLY WAY TO HAVE AN IMMEDIATE FEEDBACK.

A GREAT INVENTION

ALEX:          Is there any artist/photographer who inspired your art?

STEFANO:   WHEN I WAS A TEENAGER I USE TO WATCH THE IMAGES OF HELMUT NEWTON.

I WAS MAYBE 13 OR 14 YEARS OLD BUT MY VISION WAS NOT FOCUSED JUST ON BODIES AND NUDITY,

BUT ON THE FEELING THAT HIS PICTURES GAVE ME TOO.

RICHARD KERN IS ANOTHER INSPIRATION BECAUSE HE'S ABLE TO BE SO TRANSGRESSIVE WITHOUT

BEING COMMON AND HIS STYLE IS REALLY SIMPLE ,EROTIC AND CLEAN.

ALEX:         How would you describe your general style?

STEFANO:  I HOPE NEVER STOP ON ONE STYLE, BUT I THINK THAT CURRENTLY MY STYLE IS A MIX OF WOMEN AND NATURE

AND STRANGE IDEAS WITH KNIVES AND DARK PICTURES WITH WOMEN WITH BLACK TEARS ON THEIR FACE

AND A BLACK HEART IN THE HANDS LIKE IN MY BODY PAINTING PROJECT 'HEART IN A CAGE'

MAYBE A MIX OF SAD BEAUTIES AND DARK WOMEN

ALEX:         What is it about nude photography that interest you the most?

STEFANO:  I JUST LIKE TO SHOW THE NUDITY AS SOMETHING OF ABSOLUTELY NORMAL AND NATURAL.

ESPECIALLY WOMEN ARE THE MOST WONDERFUL BEINGS OF THE UNIVERSE.

I LOVE THEIR SHAPES AS I LOVE THE LEAVES OF THE TREES OR THE WAVES OF THE SEA.

PURE NATURE. NOTHING ELSE

ALEX:            What future plans do you have?

STEFANO:  I'VE GOT A LOT OF IDEAS AND PROJECTS. I COLLABORATE WITH AN ARTIST TO MAKE BODYPAINTING

PHOTOS AND I REALLY LIKE IT, BECAUSE THE PAINTING ON THE BODY LET ME CREATE STRONG

IMAGES AND TELL STORIES.

THEN I'M CREATING A SERIES OF PICTURES CALLED 'REBIRTH' WITH NUDE WOMEN IN FETAL

POSES ON A ROAD, ON A FIELD..EVERYWHERE IT'S POSSIBLE AND NOT POSSIBLE.
